Meet Tiffany Carter of Gracefully Wicked. She is a fabulous photographer whose work I’ve come to love in such a short time. I only recently learned of Gracefully Wicked, earlier this year in fact, but already her work has a special place in my heart. So taken, I was, with her style that I even hired her to photograph my wedding. Being a lover of photography myself I knew that was one expense I would not skimp on for the wedding. I was extremely picky in what I wanted from the person who would be capturing such a special day. I can say with complete confidence, I made the right choice. She and her husband and partner, Jeff, were terrific and professional, but warm and congenial. They put Andrew and I at ease instantly and we felt more like we were with friends than a couple we’d hired to photograph us. And the beautiful moments they captured for me and Andrew to look upon years and years from now? I couldn’t have asked for better.
While boasting a broad portfolio, I feel Tiffany really shines with high fashion photography. Her images beg to be explored and are nothing short of visual eye-candy. I had a hard time picking out my favorite shots to showcase!
There is an element of the whimsical to her images, a real sense of romance and beauty. You cannot help be be drawn into the image. Wistful, lush, vivid, often times sensual; her images are stories in and of themselves. She easily captures emotion and leaves it there in her photographs for us to experience ourselves.
I had a chance to ask Tiffany some questions about her art and love for photography:
When did you first know you wanted to be a photographer?
I’m pretty sure it was when I was ten and got my very first 110 disposable camera.
What inspires you most?
This is a tough one because so much inspires me, from other photographers, to designers, to the love displayed from a couple about to get married, etc.
What is your favorite thing to photograph?
I don’t have just one favorite thing, but when I’m able to create something from scratch and watch it come to life is so fun.
What photographers do you admire and look up to?
Herb Ritts, Dorthea Lange, Mario Testino and Richard Avedon just to name a few.
What advice would Tiffany of Now give Tiffany of Then if you could speak to her?
Become an understudy under someone you admire and don’t put off your dreams. Do it NOW!
Tell me about your favorite experience so far with photography.
This one is easy. It JUST took place. I was honored to take place in a photo shoot for 6 beautiful and brave women battling breast cancer on Monday, September 17th. It was the absolute highlight of my photography career. Watching these women bare it all with no makeup or wigs without any hesitation at all and then get all made up to show the world they are beautiful inside and out. It was so very fulfilling!

Tiffany is such a genuine and generous person. While praising her for her work I found her quick to share the light with the myriad of makeup and hair style artists as well as the models she works with. Her warmhearted kindness shows through her in how she treats her clients as well as how she treats the people she works with. Aside from her fantastic work I am sincerely glad to know her as a person.
